Does this pair of sunglasses meet the high standard that Prada sets for their product?

Monday, July 28th, 2008

This pair of Prada PR55HS has been around for a little while now and it is the most “common” pair of Prada I have ever seen around. Now when I say “common” let me qualify that as being for the standard of only the elite wearing such a brand. Prada is known for their sleekness in style and comfort. I have seen these around and I finally decided you should really know if they’ve got the stuff. These are a sleek, and subtle avaitor looking pair of sunglasses with an unusual, yet trendy, triangular shape to the temple which gets smaller the farther back you go. The hooks at the back of the stem make it hard to fit these sunglasses on top of your head without them falling off. I personally dont recommend you even try because they will fall off with very little effort. The hooks are good for keeping a firm grip on your head while wearing them. Even when I would bend down to pick something up the glasses wouldn’t even budge. It is clear that Prada wanted these glasses to be worn in all types of occasions, not just formal wear. The lenses on these sunglasses were very dark and blocked a premium amount of sunlight, which I was impressed with. The darkness of the tint made the lens look glossy on the outside, in case of a black tie event, but functionable on the inside because they blocked most of the sun from even entering into the glasses. The aligator-like pattern also made this pair of Prada’s stand out among many other pairs of sunglasses because if you are going to a black tie event, it will go with that black tie with glossy dots on the side that you have been dying to find an excuse to wear. When one isnt wearing these, where do you put them though. Well, with the hooks on the stem of the glasses it is easy to hook them onto your ears on the back side of your head. This is the new way to wear stylish sunglasses without wearing them over your eyes. The price of these sunglasses is $290, which is a typical price for Prada, but you get what you pay for. Overall though, I was not impressed with what these sunglasses were. Considering I had seen them around a few times, I expected more bang for my buck. My suggestion is to keep these on hold to wear to your next formal, black tie event. Everyone will be impressed with your sense of style and attention to detail, because after all you did spend $290 for a pair of sunglasses!

The Dark Knight: Sunglasses in the Movie Update

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I saw The Dark Knight Knight for a second time and I saw another pair of sunglasses that Bruce Wayne is wearing for a brief time while he and Alfred are in Hong Kong.

When the two of them are in China, Bruce is seen taking pictures with a pair of sunglasses on when Alfred reports back to him after meeting with Lau. These sunglasses are a pair Ray-Ban P RB3342 and they cost $179.95. The P means they are Polarized. Be sure to sign up and become one of a select few members of the site. Sunglasses in Batman: The Dark Knight with Christian Bale and Heath Ledger

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I only saw one pair of sunglasses worth mentioning in The Dark Knight.

When one of the criminal bosses is in the bar he has a pair Prada PR53HS.

I dont think the color scheme in this picture is right, but the frame is definately the same one.

Louis Vuitton Sunglasses from the Paris, France Flagship store!

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Recently I was in France and came across the biggest Louis Vuitton store I had ever seen. Where else but Paris, France! I went inside to find four floors of Louis Vuitton merchandise. I absolutely had to have a picture of the inside of the store, but to my surprise pictures were not allowed inside the store. On the first floor I came across a huge selection of sunglasses and thought my readers would like to see a picture of them. It took a lot of convincing to get the sales reps to let me take a picture of them, but one has a lot more leverage when one buys something. The sales rep told me to take a quick and discrete shot and I did so I give to you the luxurious, and quite expensive selection of unisex Sunglasses from Louis Vuitton’s flagship store in Paris, France. (Picture seen above). I was very impressed with the quality of the sunglasses at Louis Vuitton. They had everything from sporty, discrete sunglasses to avaitors that screamed look at me. Some of the sunglasses even had the LV logo in the lens that when looked at from a few feet away you could see but when wearing them, that wasn’t visible. With Sunglasses from Louis Vuitton you really get what you pay for. The downside being, you will be paying, no joke, through the roof and all the way up into the outer most reaches of the earths atmosphere.

Gucci: All style and no sign of function ability?

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

When you think of Gucci, you usually think of pure and 100% style with little or no regard to the function ability and performance of the product. This is why I have been skeptical on trying out a pair of their sunglasses but I thought I would need to sometime and I fell in love with this pair of Gucci GG2773/S. This pair of sunglasses is a single conjoined lens, and also has a vertical fade with a shiny silver colored stem, and at the back of the stem there is a white, partly rubber piece on both sides to make sure they don’t fall off easily. One thing I didn’t like about these is how big the Gucci sign is on both sides of the glasses. This symbol screams at the top of its lungs, Look at Me. When you see that big GG on the side you expect the glasses to be a big pair of mirrored lens sunglasses with an owner that wants some attention, bad. The rest of the glasses tone that down a bit by having a shade of blue lens which blocks out the big GG on the side.  One of my favorite features, and also the most intuitive one that you probably wouldn’t think of is the metal strip along the top part on the inside of the lens (part facing you). I thought it was just for good looks but it actually serves a dual purpose of acting like a frame to keep the lens from breaking or bending. The other purpose for this is when you wear these glasses they fit tightly on your face and the metal strip keeps the lens very close to your face while keeping it clean by not letting a lot of oil come off of your face and on to the lens. When you want to put them on your head while inside they won’t fall off easily. Of course these can be worn inside because the level of sun blockage is limited at the bottom of the lens. As light as the tint at the top of the lens is, it blocked a lot of sunlight. I was impressed with this and the preceding features making this not only a VERY stylish pair of sunglasses but also a very functional pair. This is an awesome example of sunglasses whether for a black tie event, or just a stroll down the beach with someone you care about. This is one of my favorite pairs of sunglasses I have tried so far. This pair changed the way I look at the Gucci brand name and may change your mind also.
